Dear Friends:

I am currently working on a project called WeCareCycle Network, and I need all the help I can get to make it come true. May I request your kind assistance with this project? Let me explain:

I would like to create an online network where people can either donate or receive wheelchairs, walkers, canes and crutches. This network would act as a gifting/recycling place where folks with different permanent or temporary disabilities or injuries can either find or donate a wheelchair, a walker, a cane, etc.

The financial burden a serious disability creates can be tremendous. If not for my mother's assistance, I would probably be either homeless or a in a nursing home, because my monthly disability check does not cover my living expenses. I am NOT complaining. I am blessed to have government assistance and my mother's support, but I know for a fact that people that live on disability checks in the United States do not live a comfortable life by any means. I know this firsthand because I live it every day.

I also understand that the additional expenses of purchasing wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes and other equipment can be crushing for disabled folks who are already struggling just to get by. I want to create this disability equipment 'gifting/ recycling' network to help ease the financial burden on other disabled folks in this situation, as well as help reduce waste that would otherwise end up in our landfills.

I need all the help I can get to make this happen. I didn't even know how to begin something like this, but I am already working on a general draft. Any suggestions, tips, referrals, etc, are welcome and appreciated. Would you please also forward this page to other people that you think might be able to help me out? I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. What I need the most is technical assistance to build the online network, and volunteers to help me run it.

I am very excited about this project, and I know that I will make it happen with your help! :-)

Thank you!

Hugs,

Shannon

P.S. I recently created a yahoo group to launch this project: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wecarecycle
